Emetophobia Treatment at Uttoxeter Hypnotherapy

emetophobia treatment

Emetophobia (sometimes mispelt as Emetephobia or Emetaphobia) is one of the most common phobias. It is a fear of vomiting, being around someone who is vomiting and/or vomit itself.

Emetophobia can affect a sufferer's entire life.

Not only when they themselves feel sick, but as an ongoing constant fear.

Emetophobics can be in constant fear that not only will they themselves be sick but that at any time someone around them might vomit, this in itself can lead to panic attacks.

Suffers of Emetophobia will often avoid going out, they may avoid restaurants as they may be meticulous about food hygiene which in turn can lead to them being underweight. They may also avoid pubs and clubs, they may have a dislike of crowded rooms and social events which again can lead to panic attacks, or using public transport.

A sufferer may also avoid pregnancy fearing morning sickness.

Severe sufferers can refuse to leave their homes and can also suffer from other phobias relating to fear of germs, gagging or choking.
